Sports physical therapy focuses on the evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries that occur to the musculoskeletal system due to a sport related injury. Sport injuries may be due to an acute injury or a repetitive stress related to specific movement patterns performed during a sport. Sports injuries may include muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and/or ligaments. Sports therapy may consist of education, postural correction, strengthening, progressive resistance exercises, stretching, manual therapy (hands on intervention), neuromuscular re-education, proprioceptive training, plyometric exercises and more.
At Balance Solutions you will be evaluated by a skilled licensed physical therapist to determine factors contributing to your condition such as; range of motion, muscle strength, joint mobility, soft tissue mobility, postural alignment, gait mechanics, abnormalities in movement patterns, body mechanics and quality of movement with specific sport related activities. Following a thorough evaluation, a personalized plan of care with goals will be constructed specifically to meet your individual needs.
Sports based therapy has many benefits such as; decrease pain, restore function, increase strength & flexibility, prevent re-injury, and optimize physical performance. Recovery from an injury can be a slow and painful process; however, physical therapy intervention can speed up the rehabilitation process and help you return to your recreational activities and active lifestyle.
